On December 23, Binance announced the launch of the 63rd Launchpool project, Bio Protocol (BIO) @bioprotocol.

What is Bio Protocol?

BIO Protocol is a curation and liquidity protocol in the decentralized science (DeSci) field, first invested in by Binance Labs, aimed at supporting and providing resources for scientific research projects to promote research innovation.

You can think of it as the 'on-chain science version of Y Combinator.'

BIO Protocol includes core components such as BioDAO, curation systems, IP commercialization, liquidity, and incentive mechanisms, building a diverse and highly participatory community through multiple rounds of auctions and airdrop programs, laying the foundation for a decentralized biomedical research network.

Among these, the most important is BioDAO, which raises funds through token sales and uses those funds to support and develop biotechnology projects related to its mission, creating shared intellectual property ownership among its members.

According to official information, there are currently 7 sub-DAOs that have successfully launched, with 3 sub-DAOs still in progress, raising a total of $23.5 million and deploying $7.2 million in research funding.

The 7 launched sub-DAOs are:

- $VITA (VitaDAO): A group focused on funding early longevity research, which has received investment from Pfizer. During Devcon, VitaDAO also showcased its first longevity product, VD001, a high-dose spermidine supplement approved by the Thai Food and Drug Administration.

It is worth noting that BIO Protocol co-founder Paul Kohlhaas @paulkhls is also the initiator of VitaDAO and the author of the VitaDAO white paper.

- $ATH (AthenaDAO): Focused on reproductive health research and drug discovery for women.

- $GROW (ValleyDAO): A decentralized, community governance platform focused on anti-aging drugs and longevity projects.

- $PSY (PsyDAO): Focused on psychedelic science research, which completed its first PSY token sale in mid-November 2024, raising $2 million.

- $HAIR (HairDAO): Aims to address hair loss issues and has launched the Follicool shampoo product, free of harmful parabens or sulfates. Consumers receive 1 million POO tokens for each bottle of FolliCool purchased ($49.95).

pump science: A DeSci funding platform sponsored by the Solana Foundation

In September of this year, the Solana Foundation provided a grant to Molecule, a company founded by the co-founder of BIO Protocol, to build the Solana-based DeSci funding platform pump.science, established on Pump.fun.

Currently, two experimental studies are underway on the pump.science platform, which are:

Rifampicin (RIF)
Urolithin A (URO)

Both of these experiments are currently in the fruit fly testing stage.

RIF is an important antibiotic primarily used to treat bacterial infections such as tuberculosis, Mycobacterium avium complex, leprosy, and legionnaires' disease. Research has found that it can activate the natural defense mechanisms of cells in tiny organisms like Caenorhabditis elegans, helping to resist stress and damage.

URO is a compound produced by the human body after digesting foods rich in ellagitannins, such as pomegranates. Its main function is to promote mitochondrial autophagy, which means clearing out aging and dysfunctional mitochondria to provide growth space for new, healthy mitochondria. Human studies have shown that this substance holds promise in improving muscle health and enhancing energy levels.

If pump.science continues to develop, derives positive data from research, and can test on large animals and humans, these tokens may see substantial appreciation. In the long run, the value should stabilize at any sales value of products like Lifa Bixin or Urea A. However, given the early stage of research and the regulatory uncertainty surrounding tokenized research funding, the risks remain high.

Earlier, I talked about the macro perspective for selecting coins in this round of the raging bull market, but which specific coins should we choose? I have two more ideas:
