According to PANews, the latest vote count from Japan's House of Representatives election reveals that opposition parties, including the Constitutional Democratic Party, have secured a majority with 233 seats. The ruling coalition of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and Komeito failed to achieve a majority. This outcome could significantly impact Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, as losing too many seats may lead to increased calls within the LDP for his resignation. Ishiba might face substantial internal pressure, potentially making him one of the shortest-serving prime ministers in Japan's constitutional history.

On October 1, Shigeru Ishiba was elected as Japan's new prime minister. By October 9, he had dissolved the House of Representatives, setting a post-war record for the quickest dissolution following a prime minister's election.

Earlier, on October 1, Ishiba expressed his belief that blockchain and NFTs could boost regional economies.
