⚠️🚨 NEW SCAM ALERT - BE CAREFUL WHO YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH 🚨
Chainalysis warns that Artificial Intelligence (AI) might pave the way for a dangerous wave of crypto-based crime.
💻🔍 During a recent webinar, Eric Jardine, Chainalysis Cybercrimes Research Lead, shed light on the evolving landscape of illicit blockchain activity in 2023 and predicted the tactics criminals might adopt.
"AI models could strengthen DeFi security through code audits or be exploited by hackers to uncover vulnerabilities," he explained. Despite a decline in the absolute volume of stolen DeFi funds from $3.1 billion to $1.1 billion in 2023, the threat remains significant.
But that's not all. AI's influence extends to romance scams as well. 💌 Dubbed "pig butchering" scams, these frauds leverage fabricated relationships to deceive victims into financial exploitation. Jardine warns that AI-powered models, with their infinite patience and creativity, could escalate the devastation caused by these scams.
Despite efforts to combat illicit activity, romance scams in crypto nearly doubled their revenue last year, with an average victim paying around $4,593. 😔⚠️
As we confront these emerging threats, it's crucial to remain vigilant and informed.
