According to PANews, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) plans to extend the trading hours of its NYSE Arca stock exchange to 22 hours a day. This change, part of the Intercontinental Exchange, will see the all-electronic trading platform operate from 1:30 AM to 11:30 PM Eastern Time, Monday through Friday.

Kevin Tyrrell, Head of Market Operations at NYSE, stated that extending U.S. stock trading hours to 22 hours daily and five days a week highlights the strength of the U.S. capital markets and the growing global demand for their listed securities. He also mentioned that NYSE would seek support from the Securities Information Processor for the expanded trading hours. These changes will be accompanied by updates to regulatory rules, and NYSE plans to submit an updated framework to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
