According to Foresight News, the Ethereum L2 network Base tweeted that it will activate 'Fault Proofs' on the mainnet on October 30.

The activation of 'Fault Proofs' means that anyone can monitor and challenge invalid withdrawals without permission, thus eliminating reliance on trusted third parties.

When an upgrade occurs, pending withdrawals will need to be re-proven. Withdrawals made before the upgrade must wait for a 7-day challenge period before they can be finalized.

In addition, the 'DisputeGameFactory' will replace the 'L2OutputOracle' as the new contract for submitting output root statements.
