“The Accidental NFT Millionaire (Almost)”

Here’s a funny NFT story for you!

Once upon a time in the crypto world, a guy named Dave decided to become an NFT millionaire overnight. He’d heard stories of people selling digital art for thousands, sometimes even millions, and thought, Why not me? So, armed with a selfie, a goofy grin, and a bit of confidence, he minted his very first NFT: Dave’s Face #001.

Dave listed his masterpiece on a popular marketplace for 50 Ethereum, convinced that his quirky charm would attract the right buyer. Days passed, and crickets. No bids, no offers, just silence. Unfazed, he added a backstory to the NFT, saying it was “the only picture ever taken where he truly felt at peace with the universe.” He even claimed it had healing powers for those who gazed upon it.

Weeks went by, and still nothing. Then one day, a bot accidentally placed a bid of 0.05 Ethereum (about $85). Excited, Dave accepted immediately and declared himself a successful NFT artist to all his friends. As luck would have it, his sale got a bit of attention online.

Soon, a meme page picked up the story of Dave’s Face #001 and turned him into a viral meme: “The Guy Who Tried to Sell His Face as an NFT.” People made memes of his goofy selfie, adding captions like, “When you think you’re worth 50 ETH but the universe disagrees.”

Ironically, the attention skyrocketed the demand for Dave’s Face. People started bidding on copies he made, and suddenly, he became a minor NFT celebrity. In the end, Dave didn’t quite make millions, but he did manage to sell enough goofy selfies to pay off his student loans.

Moral of the story: Sometimes, becoming a meme is just as good as becoming a millionaire.
