HANOI/TAIPEI, Nov 5 (Reuters) – SpaceX, owned by Elon Musk, has urged its Taiwanese suppliers to shift production operations outside Taiwan, prompting some to adjust their supply chains, according to sources connected to the equipment manufacturers and relevant corporate documents.

An insider from one of the many subcontractors supplying components for SpaceX's Starlink satellite internet products disclosed that SpaceX requested they move their manufacturing out of Taiwan due to geopolitical concerns. This directive has already led at least one supplier to relocate part of its production to Vietnam.

Another source collaborating with Taiwanese satellite component producers on the island confirmed that SpaceX had directly instructed suppliers to transfer their manufacturing to locations abroad. Chin-Poon Industrial (2355.TW), a producer of satellite components and a recent supplier for SpaceX, informed Reuters that the U.S.-based company had asked them to move production from Taiwan to Thailand for new orders, citing "primarily geopolitical considerations," though further details were not provided.
