A wave of searches and arrests took place in Russia in connection with the case of the Cryptex crypto exchange with a turnover of over 100 billion rubles and the related UAPS payment system. A week earlier, the US authorities imposed sanctions on both services and a Russian citizen who was accused of long-term money laundering and working for cybercriminals.

In St. Petersburg and other regions, 96 people were detained in one day in the Cryptex case; they will be taken to Moscow, where they will be charged. According to the investigation, the turnover of UAPS, Cryptex and more than 30 related online services last year amounted to more than 112 billion rubles, and criminal income was 3.7 billion rubles. More than 1.5 billion rubles, cars, boats and helicopters were seized during the searches.
