The founder of the Tron blockchain, Justin Sun, denied claims that the network has become more often used by terrorist organizations. According to him, the main priority of Tron is decentralization. Justin Sun (Justin Sun) commented on a recent report by Reuters, according to which between July 2021 and October 2023, Israel's National Bureau for Combating Terrorist Financing (NBCTF) froze 143 Tron addresses. The blocked addresses were linked to terrorists: 87 Tron addresses belonged to the militant organization Hezbollah, and 56 to the Hamas movement. Many terrorist organizations now prefer to move crypto-assets through Tron because it is faster and cheaper than through the Bitcoin network, the publication writes. However, Sun wrote on social network X that Tron is a decentralized protocol similar to Bitcoin and Ethereum, with nodes operating all over the world. This means that neither Justin Sun nor his team determines who will use this blockchain.
"International super representatives are responsible for launching the protocol. We are committed to combating the financing of terrorism by working with various analytical companies. But our main priority remains the support of decentralization, the security of cryptoassets, as well as instant, accessible and reliable transactions. I am grateful to all industry participants who contribute to the spread of cryptocurrencies," wrote the founder of Tron.
