Why has $DOGE become so popular?
There is an opinion that the growth of the Dogecoin cryptocurrency is associated solely with successful hype, but this coin has its own ideas, values and subculture, which gives it a unique character in the digital world.
Jackson Palmer and Billy Marcus created the project as a joke: the cryptocurrency was called Dogecoin, and the visual image was a meme popular in Japan with the image of a Shiba Inu dog.
However, just a month after the launch, the project’s website was visited a million times, and in 2014 it was necessary to abandon the random distribution of mining rewards in order to maintain the functionality of the network due to
exponential growth of users.
The coin's real popularity came when the community came together for charity. This happened spontaneously - the first impetus for the unification was a hacker attack on December 25, 2013. The hackers stole about 11 million coins, which was $12,000 at the time. Dogecoin users decided to chip in and compensate the victims of the attack. The campaign was called SaveDogmas, within which 15 million dogecoin were collected.
The community's charitable efforts have attracted the attention of celebrities such as Snoop Dogg, Carole Baskin, Kai Greene, Gene Simmons and many others. Elon Musk has expressed his support for the project since September 2018, each time raising the cryptocurrency rate to new heights. He even suggested that Dogecoin could become the official currency of Mars.
Dogecoin is no longer just a cryptocurrency, but a brand with inherent positive characteristics. It is this quality that makes Elon Musk stand out in him, and it is this circumstance that makes Dogecoin so popular.
