Ripple hacked for $112 million
Unknown people hacked the popular fintech project Ripple. Amid the news, the ecosystem’s native token, XRP, dropped by 5%
Update: Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen said yesterday there was unauthorized access to several personal accounts that belong to him, not the company.
The team quickly identified the problem and asked exchanges to freeze the affected addresses. Law enforcement agencies have already joined the investigation, Larsen said.
On-chain sleuth ZachXBT wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that Ripple had suffered a massive hack. As a result of the attack, the attackers stole approximately 213 million in XRP tokens ($112 million)
