Filecoin Foundation launched a design document for its token into space
The Filecoin Foundation successfully completed a groundbreaking mission to launch into orbit and return to Earth a design document for its digital asset, as well as an image of its mascot, affectionately known as “Biscuit,” using the Interplanetary File System (IPFS).
The achievement illustrates the potential for decentralized technology in space, made possible by software developed by U.S. military-industrial corporation Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT), project officials said Jan. 16.
The mission demonstrated the ability of IPFS, a decentralized content distribution system, to improve communications over vast distances and improve resiliency in challenging space environments.
The Filecoin Foundation highlighted several key benefits of using IPFS for space communications, including faster transfer and reliable data verification, as well as increased system resiliency.
