How does crypto get stolen? 3 popular schemes
When markets rise, scammers come to life. Let’s discuss the three most popular cryptocurrency theft schemes over the next three days.
Scheme #1: Virus file
You download and run a file containing a virus that finds your saved cryptocurrency wallet passwords on your PC and transfers them to scammers.
Previously, for such a scam, they offered to install a fake cryptocurrency wallet update or other software. Now scammers have gone further and, through Discord or Telegram, invite you to participate in testing a new crypto product and get tokens for it. And to those who agree, they send a file of about 800MB and ask to run it.
How to protect yourself: Do not download or run files from dubious sources. Earning some tokens by testing unknown projects can cost you all your crypto.
