Montenegro's Justice Minister Bojan Božović has signed an extradition order for Terraform Labs co-founder Do Kwon to the United States, ending a long-running legal battle. The decision was confirmed by Montenegrin newspaper Vijesti on Friday, after months of wrangling between the United States and South Korea, both seeking to bring Do Kwon to justice.
The Supreme Court of Montenegro had already established that the legal conditions for his extradition were met, after considering separate requests from both countries. This decision allowed Minister Božović to determine the priority jurisdiction.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Justice:
> "All facts and elements were taken into account, including the seriousness of the crimes, the place where they were committed, the order of the requests, Do Kwon's nationality, as well as the possibility of subsequent extradition to another country."
Ultimately, the majority of legal criteria favored the U.S. request. Thus, Do Kwon will be extradited to the United States, while the Republic of Korea's request was rejected.
