Bitcoin was created in 2008 by a person or group under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto, with the aim of offering a decentralized currency, without the need for intermediaries like banks. Its network was launched in January 2009, with the mining of the first block (“genesis block”) and a reward of 50 BTC. In its early years, Bitcoin was mainly used in tech and cryptography communities, without significant value. However, as more people adopted it and started using it for transactions, its value began to grow.

In 2013, Bitcoin reached the first 1,000 USD, attracting the attention of the media and investors. Over the years, it faced volatility, regulations, and events such as forks (network splits) and hacks, but it established itself as a store of value and a digital asset. Today, Bitcoin is considered by many as “digital gold,” with growing adoption worldwide.
