Camel and the North Star
The elephant, lion, and camel decided to enter the desert together in search of their living space. Before entering the desert, an angel told them: once they enter the desert, as long as they keep walking north, they will find water and food. After entering the desert, they suddenly realized that the desert was much larger and more complex than they had imagined. Most importantly, they soon lost their direction. They did not know which direction was north.
The elephant thought: I am so strong that losing my direction doesn't matter; as long as I keep walking in one direction, I will surely find water and food. So, it chose what it believed to be the northern direction and kept moving forward. After three days, the elephant was stunned to find that it had returned to the place it started. Three days of time and effort were wasted like that. The elephant was very angry and decided to try again. It kept telling itself not to turn and to walk straight ahead. After three days, it discovered that it had repeated the same mistake as before. The elephant was going crazy and didn't understand why this was happening. At that moment, it was both hungry and thirsty, so it decided to rest before setting out again. However, each subsequent attempt resulted in the same outcome. Soon, the elephant became exhausted and died.
The lion thought: it prided itself on running fast, so it dashed toward what it believed to be north. It ran quickly, thinking that with such speed, it could cross any vast desert. However, after running for several days, it was astonished to find that the more it moved forward, the sparser the vegetation became, and eventually, it could no longer see any green plants. It became frightened and decided to return the way it came. However, when it tried to return, it lost its direction again. The more it moved forward, the more despairing it became. It rushed left and right but found no destination. In the end, it collapsed in despair.
Only the camel was a wise one. It walked slowly and thought: as long as I find the true northern direction and do not get lost, I will surely find water and food in less than three days. So, during the day, it did not rush to travel but chose to rest. At night, the sky was filled with bright stars, and the camel easily found the dazzling North Star. Every night, the camel walked slowly toward the North Star. During the day, when it could not see the North Star, it would stop to rest.
Three nights passed. One morning, the camel suddenly found that it had arrived at a lush oasis. From then on, the camel settled here and lived a prosperous life. Here, the camel's secret to success clearly lay in finding the right direction to move forward.
It turns out: without the correct direction, no matter how great the ability is, it is useless; without the correct direction, no matter how much effort is put in, there will be no effect.
