The Six Lines gradually manifest.
What emotions, what intentions, thoroughly intricate.
Adapting to time, transforming.
The six dragons ride back to the sky and clouds.
Rain falls, then the clouds fly away.
Making all things peaceful here and there.

To understand the hexagram Qian as well as the subsequent hexagrams of the Book of Changes, one must first understand the four words Origin, Action, Benefit, Integrity.
A. In the hexagrams outside Qian and Kun, Origin, Action, Benefit, Integrity are interpreted as follows:
- Origin is strong, heroic, and great.
- Action is smooth, flowing, not being stuck.
- Benefit is advantage, or adaptability, appropriateness.
- Integrity is correctness, is enduring (Integrity is firm, upright, enduring); we have the following practical lesson:
In life, to escape all deadlocks, to overcome all obstacles, we must grow strong. To achieve long-lasting and genuine benefits, we must follow the true Path and the true Principle.
B. However, in the hexagrams Qian and Kun, the terms Origin, Action, Benefit, Integrity have different meanings:
- Origin is primordial, the cause, the root.
- Action is transformation, lasting prosperity, and smooth progress.
- Benefit is comfort, usefulness.
- Integrity is successful, sustainable, eternal.
The ancients often used these four words to describe the four stages of the evolution of the collective birth:
- The origin of Heaven makes all things arise (Origin).
- Thanks to that origin, thanks to that infinite source of life, all things become strong, realizing all potential and capability (Action).
- Thanks to this, there will be infinite applications, and one will feel comfortable, carefree, and satisfied (Benefit).
- Ultimately, it will lead to accomplishments, to perfection (Integrity).
Origin, Action, Benefit, Integrity correspond to the four seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter; corresponding to the rhythm of transformation: Birth, Growth, Harvest, Storage.
Origin, Action, Benefit, Integrity in humans correspond to the four virtues of Humanity, Righteousness, Propriety, Wisdom. In other words, Origin is Ultimate Goodness, Action is Ultimate Beauty, Benefit is Great Harmony, Integrity is Perfection.
Thus, just using the four words Origin, Action, Benefit, Integrity can depict all the cycles of change and evolution of Heaven and Earth, from the initial stage (Origin) to the outcome (Integrity).
