The third large-scale burn of SHIB took place with the help of Shibarium commissions.
The team of one of the leading cryptocurrency memes, Shiba Inu, conducted a burn of over SHIB 8.5 billion. Shibburn's social media account X reported that the tokens had been moved to a dead wallet.
According to Shiba Inu ecosystem content marketing specialist Lucy, the exact number of tokens burned was 8,533,564,693 SHIB.
Lucy also mentioned that this is the third time that a large number of meme coins have been burned using a portion of Shibarium's commissions.
The first ever SHIB burn occurred on December 4, when the Shiba Inu project team sent 8.24 billion SHIB tokens to a dead wallet. The second took place on December 16, when another 8.61 billion SHIB were removed from circulation.
The latest SHIB burn brings the total number of tokens burned to approximately 25.38 billion in 18 days.
