Recently, a shocking fraud case has come to light. A Chinese woman, whose real name is Qian Zhimin and alias Zhang Yadi, is suspected of orchestrating a meticulously planned fake wealth management scam that spanned from 2014 to 2017, swindling up to 6.3 billion dollars from 130,000 unsuspecting investors in mainland China. These huge funds were subsequently converted into Bitcoin, and she herself fled to the UK in 2017 using a fake St. Kitts and Nevis passport, at a time when Chinese authorities had already begun an investigation into the fraud case. She attempted to escape the law under the false identity of Zhang Yadi.

In the UK, the police also arrested another Chinese woman, Jianwen. She arrived in the UK as early as 2007 and obtained British citizenship in 2018. Jianwen played a role as an accomplice in this case, helping Zhang Yadi convert some of the Bitcoin into real estate, cash, jewelry, and other luxury items. For example, in 2018, Jianwen attempted to use a law firm to purchase a London property worth 12.5 million pounds for Zhang Yadi, but the transaction ultimately failed because the law firm could not verify the source of the Bitcoin. In the same year, London police seized four devices from the safe of Jianwen and Zhang Yadi's residence, which contained as many as 61,000 BTC. By 2021, when the police successfully decrypted these Bitcoins, their value had soared to 1.4 billion pounds (approximately 1.77 billion dollars), making it one of the largest cryptocurrency seizures in the world. If calculated at current prices, it amounts to as much as 2.6 billion dollars.

Currently, Jianwen's trial is still ongoing. She refuses to plead guilty, claiming that she believed Zhang Yadi's source of Bitcoin was legal. However, the prosecution pointed out that Jianwen should have known that these funds were illegally obtained, one piece of evidence being her deliberate avoidance of traveling to countries with extradition treaties with China. The absence of an extradition agreement between China and the UK adds complexity to the handling of the case. It is worth mentioning that although rumors suggest that Qian Zhimin has been wanted, searches using different names such as Qian Zhimin, Qian Zhiming, and Qian Zhiming have not yielded any reports regarding related cases. The fact that one person could successfully take away 6.3 billion dollars is indeed astonishing.
