BlockBeats reported on November 11, according to the Bangkok Post, that a Ukrainian man told police he was forced to transfer over 8 million Thai baht worth of cryptocurrency to a group of armed men while visiting a friend's room.

23-year-old Viacheslav Leibov reported at the police station on Sunday that his 18-year-old Ukrainian friend Alfred Chernyshuk invited him to a friend's room around 10:45 PM on Friday night.

At the entrance of a friend's residence, a 21-year-old Armenian man named Arman Grigoryan welcomed Leibov and took him into the room.

The victim initially conversed with these individuals on the balcony of the room. Later, he needed to use the restroom. When he opened the restroom door, he found two masked men waiting inside.

Mr. Leibov said he requested the bandits to halve the ransom. After completing the transfer of 250,000 USDT, the bandits tied him to the bed, warned him not to report the case, and then packed their things and left the scene.

The victim stated that he ultimately managed to save himself. Mr. Leibov said he immediately rode a motorcycle to Phuket Airport but did not see one of the suspects. He then reported the incident at the police station.
