Ripple Labs CEO Brad Garlinghouse posted on the social platform X to congratulate Trump on his presidential victory and offer some advice on what he should do in his first 100 days after returning to the White House.
The executive called on Trump to fire current Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman Gary Gensler on his first day in office, and suggested that former CFTC Chairman Chris Giancarlo, former acting Comptroller of the Currency Brian Brooks, or former SEC Commissioner Daniel Gallagher could be suitable replacements.
Garlinghouse also urged Trump to push the Digital Asset Market Structure Act in the Senate to get Republicans and Democrats on the same page. Finally, he called on the Trump administration to clarify whether Ethereum is considered a security.
Garlinghouse’s suggestion reflects his ongoing efforts to promote pro-cryptocurrency policies.
He has previously stressed the importance of bipartisan support for cryptocurrency and backed Ripple executives for donating to candidates they believe will be good for the industry, regardless of political considerations.
Interestingly, Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen supported Kamala Harris before the election, while legal chief Stuart Aldrotti donated to pro-Trump groups.
Ripple has been engaged in a nearly four-year legal battle with the U.S. SEC over the status of XRP, a payments-focused cryptocurrency developed by Ripple.
