The Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris leads her Republican opponent Donald Trump by just one percentage point, with Harris supported by 44% of surveyed Americans. This follows from the results of a poll conducted by Reuters and Ipsos.

"Kamala Harris's lead over Donald Trump has narrowed in the final stages of the U.S. presidential election, with the Democrat ahead of the Republican by one percentage point, 44% to 43%," the agency's poll states.

A poll published on Tuesday showed that Trump has an advantage over Harris on certain issues. Regarding the best approach to the economy and employment issues in the U.S., 47% of respondents preferred Trump, while only 37% chose Harris. According to the poll, about 48% of voters believe Trump’s approach to immigration is the best, compared to 33% of respondents who chose Harris.

"The poll also showed that Harris's advantage on the issue of political extremism is shrinking. About 40% of voters participating in the poll stated that she has a better approach to addressing the problem of political extremism and threats to democracy, compared to 38% who chose Trump," the agency’s poll adds.
