These days, when #Bitcoin❗ and #ETH🔥🔥🔥🔥 are on the rise again, #AI3 projects are on the agenda.
Today, I will talk about the solutions offered by the #Artificiallnteligence project
#AutonomysNetwork to farmers' problems.
To develop energy-efficient, egalitarian and more decentralized blockchain systems, new evidence-based protocols use a storage-focused consensus mechanism called Proofs-of-Capacity (PoC). PoC replaces computationally intensive work in mining with storage-focused "farming" processes. However, this approach creates an incentive problem known as the farmer's dilemma.
In PoC protocols, farmers have to choose between using their limited storage resources to either store the state and history of the blockchain or allocate more space for consensus. Rational farmers prefer the latter option, which makes them light clients at best, and pools managed by a few trusted operators at worst.
Autonomys’ solution:
In Autonomys, farmers are not required to store the state of the blockchain nor the history. Instead, they are responsible for storing copies of the history. Each farmer stores multiple copies of the history based on their disk space. This system separates consensus and computation; farmers only sort transactions, while staked operator nodes manage states and perform transitions.
Conclusion:
Autonomys aims to solve the centralization trend farmer’s dilemma in PoC-based blockchain systems. It eases the storage burden on farmers while preserving the advantages of security and decentralization.
This model allows even ordinary users to participate in consensus with basic commodity hardware, which could encourage wider adoption of the system.
Autonomys offers an innovative approach to solving fundamental problems encountered in PoC protocols, promising significant advances in decentralization and energy efficiency.
