🔸Anonymous crypto wallets are now illegal in the EU under new AML laws, affecting cryptocurrency and cash payments.
🔸The ban includes cash payments over 10,000 euros and all anonymous crypto payments, aiming to safeguard against illegal activities but limiting financial freedom.
🔸Public resistance and criticism towards these measures highlight concerns about privacy, human rights and banking dependence.
In a recent regulatory development, cryptocurrency payments of any size using unidentified self-managed crypto wallets are now illegal in the European Union (EU). This decision is part of a set of new anti-money laundering (AML) laws on the continent.
The majority of the EU Parliament's main committee approved the ban on March 19, according to Patrick Breyer's post.
🔹 New EU AML: Cash and crypto payments partially illegal
In particular, the new anti-money laundering law prohibits certain thresholds for cash payments and any anonymous crypto payments. In that sense, any cash payment over 10,000 euros will become illegal, as will anonymous cash payments over 3,000 euros.
