According to Cointelegraph: A fraudulent Curve Finance app is deceiving users across multiple regions, despite repeated warnings from the crypto community.

A counterfeit app posing as the decentralized finance (DeFi) platform Curve Finance has infiltrated Apple’s app store, ranking among the top 100 finance apps on Oct. 26. Despite being flagged by users as a scam, the fake app is popular in areas like Europe, Latin America, Southeast Asia, New Zealand, and the United States, potentially exposing thousands of unsuspecting users to theft.

Impersonating Curve Finance’s Services

The fake app, listed as "Curve defi v3" by developer "Tao Duong Van," uses Curve Finance’s official branding and promises token swaps, liquidity staking, and other DeFi services. However, users have overwhelmingly rated it one star, calling it a “scam” and “hacker app” in reviews. One misleading promotional image claims over "30 million global users," falsely establishing credibility to trick victims into downloading the app.

The app description itself is poorly crafted, stating, “Curve defi v3 is an amazing app. Arrange the blocks to make a perfect row and clear it!” suggesting minimal attention to actual DeFi functions.

Warnings from Social Media and Previous Incidents

The fraudulent app was identified by fintech engineer Babu on X (formerly Twitter), who alerted users to report suspicious apps. This fake Curve Finance app is not the first: in February, Curve Finance warned its community about a similar fake app, also featuring Curve’s logo and rated highly despite clear signs of fraud. That app, published under "MK Technology," falsely promoted itself as a tool for loan management.

For now, users are strongly advised to avoid this fraudulent app and report it on the app store.
