Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong is set to meet with President-elect Donald Trump to discuss potential collaborations with the crypto industry. The meeting will focus on personnel appointments and how to work together. Although Armstrong hasn’t been publicly linked to Trump’s 2024 campaign, Coinbase was prepared to cooperate with a Trump administration if needed.
Trump has hinted at initiatives involving the crypto sector, such as creating a “Bitcoin and Crypto Presidential Advisory Council” to establish clear regulatory guidelines. Armstrong and Coinbase have taken a more active stance on political matters, particularly in supporting pro-crypto candidates.
Following the SEC’s lawsuit against Coinbase, Armstrong advocated for electing candidates friendly to cryptocurrency regulation, contributing to the Fairshake PAC. Coinbase shares surged 31% on November 6th, 2024, marking the best trading day in the company’s history. Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson also confirmed plans to collaborate with the Trump administration.
