Before #donaldtrump took the stage, Fox News called Pennsylvania for Trump, putting him 3 electoral votes shy of the 270 needed to win the presidency. Hundreds of supporters cheered at the convention center when the call was made.

David Axelrod, a former Obama advisor, said on CNN before the call in the Keystone State, "Part of democracy is to honor the will of the people. To honor its institutions. I imagine that is what the Vice President is going to do."

In Washington, D.C., #kamalaHarris supporters were seen leaving the watch party at Howard in tears. Although the night began jubilantly, the mood dampened in the final hours of the night as results continued to roll in—and not in Harris' favor.

Harris' absence at her own campaign party reminded observers of the 2016 election when Democrat Hillary Clinton chose not to speak at her party in New York's Javits Center after it was clear Trump would win.

Although Trump still needs 3 electoral votes to take the White House, his win in Pennsylvania will leave Harris with no path to the presidency.
