Canadian cryptographer and computer scientist, Peter Todd, has reportedly gone into hiding following an HBO documentary’s claims that he is the inventor of Bitcoin.

The documentary, Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery, aired on October 9, aiming to uncover the identity of "Satoshi Nakamoto," the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin.

In a climactic moment, the documentary concludes with Todd ambiguously saying, “Well yeah, I’m Satoshi Nakamoto,” after examining other potential candidates.

Todd has consistently denied being Satoshi Nakamoto and, in a recent Wired interview, criticized the documentary's director, Cullen Hoback, for using questionable evidence to support this narrative.

Sources and documentary footage indicate Todd has previously joked, “I am Satoshi,” reminiscent of the iconic "I am Spartacus" line from the 1960 film Spartacus, where individuals declare themselves to protect the true identity of their leader.

Concerned for his safety after the documentary’s release, Todd has now taken measures to secure his location and avoid public attention.
