💀🚨Hong Kong woman loses 12K USDT through digital scam
🗣A cryptocurrency scam in Hong Kong resulted in a woman losing 12,000 USDT, highlighting the prevalence of fraud in the digital asset market.
According to PANews, a cryptocurrency scam occurred in the Tai Kok Tsui area of Hong Kong. On October 26, at around 16:00 (UTC+8), a woman reported to the police that she had visited an over-the-counter (OTC) cryptocurrency exchange located at 55 Tai Kok Tsui Road earlier that day at 13:00.
💬She intended to exchange Tether (USDT) for cash. After transferring the USDT to a male employee via an online wallet, she was asked to wait for a colleague to arrive with the cash.
The employee then left the premises under a pretext. The woman waited for a long time, but no one came with the cash, prompting her to call the police for help.
The police have classified the case as “fraud” and have so far made no arrests. The woman is reported to have lost 12,000 USDT, equivalent to approximately 93,000 HKD.
The woman mentioned that she had been following the store on the social media platform Instagram since August. The store appeared to have been operating for several months and had displayed customer transactions, leading her to believe it was trustworthy.
