Hack incidents are becoming all too common in the crypto space, often leading to significant losses for both the project and its users. In a recent event, hackers managed to compromise the official X account of a popular Ethereum-based altcoin project. Crypto detective PeckShield has reported the issue, warning users to stay vigilant. Meanwhile, the altcoin’s price has started to decline from its recent highs.

PeckShield Warns: This Altcoin’s X Account Is in the Hands of Scammers

As reported by The Bit Journal, hack events are an everyday occurrence in the crypto world. Despite the many security measures taken by projects to protect themselves, users must remain alert to attacks targeting them. In this latest incident, EigenLayer (EIGEN), a popular Ethereum-based altcoin, had its official X account hacked. Scammers are using the compromised account to post phishing links aimed at stealing user assets. PeckShield issued the following warning:

“PeckShieldAlert: EigenLayer’s X account has been compromised. Do not click on the phishing link eligible-eigenfoundation[.]org.”

Following the hack, EigenLayer’s price dropped from its daily peak of $3.51 to $3.43, although it remains up by over 7% for the day.

Kraken Integrates EigenLayer

In a separate development, Kraken recently announced the integration of EigenLayer. The exchange shared in an October 15 press release that Kraken customers will now be able to earn additional rewards through decentralized finance projects on EigenLayer while also having the ability to withdraw their staked ETH. Kraken’s Ethereum restaking service allows users to restake their staked ETH to secure other networks or protocols built on the Ethereum blockchain.

Ethereum Restaking Access Limited to Advanced Users

Kraken’s Ethereum restaking service is designed to make yield opportunities more accessible. According to Kraken, restaking is seen as a more inclusive option for a broader range of customers, offering new investment paths for Kraken users. The exchange’s subsidiary, Staked, will serve as a validator for restaked ETH. Rewards earned through Ethereum restaking on Kraken can be held on the platform or traded for other crypto or fiat currencies. However, access to the service is limited to Intermediate or Pro Kraken users.
