At an event in San Francisco, co-inventors Alex Blania and Sam Altman unveiled significant updates to their project, now known as the World Network. Among the five key announcements was the introduction of a new generation Orb, designed to enhance the efficiency of World ID proof of human verifications, powered by advanced NVIDIA Jetson technology. The event also showcased World ID 3.0, which includes World ID Credentials for secure identity verification without revealing personal information, and the launch of World App 3.0, featuring mini apps that allow third-party applications to integrate with users’ World IDs. Additionally, the World Chain mainnet was launched, facilitating the migration of approximately 15 million World ID holders to a blockchain focused on human activity. Finally, the project rebranded from Worldcoin to World, reflecting its broader mission to prioritize verified human engagement in the evolving landscape of AI.
