The hype surrounding the Telegram game Hamster Kombat quickly turned to complaints after the HMSTR token plummeted upon launch and players heavily criticized the project’s airdrop.

The HMSTR token plunged as much as 50% following its listing on major cryptocurrency exchanges yesterday as frustration over the project exploded across social media platforms.

“You gave me dust after 4 months,” one X user said while venting his frustration about the airdrop. “I’m killing hamsters, rats, rabbits or anything that looks like a hamster.”

HMSTR is trading at $0.006655 as of 10:07 a.m. EST, down 26% from its opening price. It has a market capitalization of $428 million, making it the 423rd largest cryptocurrency, according to CoinMarketCap.

Hamster Kombat players criticize team for unfair distribution of HMSTR

Hamster Kombat distributed 60 billion HMSTR tokens, representing 60% of the cryptocurrency supply, through multiple tier-1 exchanges including Binance, OKX, and BitGet yesterday.

After months of playing the game, completing missions, and promoting Hamster Kombat, some players were angry when they received a meager $2 worth of tokens.

One major issue that has been raised online is the token distribution. Some of the game's former loyal players have accused the project team of unfairly excluding 63% of participants from receiving tokens.

Of the game's 300 million players, only 131 million were eligible to participate in the token distribution event. Another 2.3 million were recently disqualified due to cheating allegations.

Worse still, community members who supported the project received meager rewards, while influencers allegedly received millions of tokens for almost no effort.

Some disgruntled airdrop participants also left comments on the project's smart contract on the TON network. "You bastards, curse your airdrop," one person wrote.
