According to PANews, a civil lawsuit involving South Korean gaming company WeMade and its virtual asset WEMIX has commenced, focusing on performance bonus payments. The Seoul Central District Court's Civil Division 42 held the first preparatory hearing for the case. The plaintiffs, former and current employees of WeMade's former subsidiary WeMadeTree, claim they had a compensation agreement for WEMIX development, supported by emails from the company. However, WeMade denies any verbal agreement, acknowledging only a basic compensation plan notification to employees. The company cites legal and accounting uncertainties surrounding virtual assets as reasons for not formalizing a compensation contract, highlighting potential criminal breach of trust risks for management.
The court noted the plaintiffs' lack of a written contract but deemed it unreasonable for the defendant to refuse any compensation. The next hearing is scheduled for March 21 in the morning. WeMade has expressed willingness to negotiate a specific compensation agreement with its employees.
