What is Kaia (KAIA)?

Kaia is an EVM Layer 1 public blockchain designed to bring Web3 to millions of users across Asia. It was created through the merger of the Klaytn and Finschia blockchains, originally developed by Kakao and LINE. Kaia integrates with Kakaotalk and LINE messengers, which together serve over 250 million users, offering them the ability to explore Web3 within the familiar experience of their messaging apps.

Through deep integration via the NEXT WEB SDK, builders can create mini dApps that launch within the LINE messenger, utilizing Kaia's 1-second block time, account abstraction and fee delegation features to provide a seamless end-to-end user experience. Additionally, Kaia dApps that utilize the NEXT WEB SDK can leverage LINE's various owned marketing channels to reach their userbase of hundreds of millions for rapid user acquisition. Kaia is an Ethereum-equivalent Layer 1 public blockchain that utilizes Practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance (pBFT), a highly-optimized version of Istanbul BFT to achieve 4,000 real-world TPS while delivering 1-second block time with immediate absolute finality. Kaia is governed and secured by the Governance Council, a body of leading Web3 and Web2 enterprises including 1inch, Hashkey, Animoca Brands, DWF Labs, Binance, Kakao, LINE NEXT, SEGA, SoftBank and more.

With the launch of the Kaia mainnet and the Kaia Wave program, the blockchain aims for new consumer-facing mini dApps to be built and launched using the NEXT WEB SDK.

People Also Ask: Other Questions About Kaia

  1. What is $KAIA Used For?

KAIA is the native transferable cryptocurrency of Kaia and is used to pay transaction fees when creating or executing smart contracts or when transferring KAIA.

KAIA is essential for operating the Kaia distributed application platform. It is a form of payment made by the clients of the platform to the consensus nodes (CNs) executing the requested operations. KAIA ensures that developers write high-quality applications (wasteful code costs more) and that the network remains healthy (CNs are compensated for the resources they contribute).

  2. How Do Network Consensus and Validation Work On Kaia?

Kaia utilizes Practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance (PBFT). In Kaia, there are three types of nodes, CN (Consensus Node), PN (Proxy Node) and EN (Endpoint Node). CNs are managed by CCOs (Core Cell Operators) and are in charge of block generation. These blocks are verified by all nodes in the network.

Kaia purportedly achieves fast finality by adopting and improving Istanbul BFT. Because validation and consensus are done for each block there is no fork and the block's finality is guaranteed instantly as soon as the consensus is made. The issue of increasing communication volume in the BFT algorithm is solved by utilizing a randomly selected Committee. CNs collectively form a Council and on each block generation, part of them are selected as a member of Committee using a VRF (Verifiable Random Function).

  3. Who Is The Founder of Kaia?

As the result of a merger between Klaytn and Finschia, Kaia’s founders are the collective founding team members of Kaia DLT Foundation, led by Chairman Dr. Sam Seo.

  4. What is the Maximum and Circulating Token Supply of $KAIA?

There is no maximum supply, and the total and circulating supply is roughly 5,768 million $KAIA at the time of writing.

  5. What Makes Kaia Different From Others?

The Kaia blockchain’s deep integration with the Kakaotalk and LINE messenger, which are dominant in South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, and Indonesia, gives Web3 builders access to over 250 million users across Asia. Kaia’s near-instant transaction confirmations, along with gas and account abstraction, work together with the NEXT WEB SDK developed together with LINE NEXT to uniquely allow for the creation of mini dApps that launch within LINE Messenger and have a seamless Web2-like end-user experience with no seed phrase management, gas payments, or long transaction wait times.
