Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of Dubai Future Foundation: The Role of The Middle East in Web3Â
After a warm welcome from our CEO Richard Teng, Khalfan Behoul, the CEO of Dubai Future Foundation, took the stage with an opening keynote.
Belhoul emphasized the Middle Eastâs vision to become a global innovation hub, sharing the thinking and strategy behind Dubai's proactive approach in the Web3 space and highlighting the region's initiatives and commitment to emerging technologies. Belhoul also reflected on the Web3 industryâs rapid progress, discussing regulatory advancements, technological innovation, and evolving market dynamics that are keeping the industryâs momentum going.Â
Panel Discussion â Generative AI: A Blessing or Curse in the Web3 World?Â
âThe ownership of AI agents and bots has to be decentralized, otherwise, you will end up with only a few corporations owning AI. We can build the models anywhere, but the utilization can be decentralized.â â Humayun Sheikh, CEO of Fetch.AI
The panel discussion Generative AI: A Blessing or Curse in the Web3 World? brought together industry pioneers to explore one of the most hyped and promising intersections in technology: AI and blockchain.Â
Moderated by Tracy Zhang from Followin AI, the session kicked off with a debate on whether generative AI aligns with or disrupts the decentralization ethos of Web3. The panelists, including Allen Yang (AWS), Humayun Sheikh (Fetch.AI), Bruce Pon (Ocean Protocol), Sean Ren (Sahara AI), and Richard Muirhead (Fabric Ventures), discussed how generative AI could either enhance or challenge Web3âs core principles.
While some argued that AIâs predictive capabilities could streamline decentralized operations, others raised concerns about potential risks, including the rise of AI oligarchies and increased surveillance.
Generative AI, the panelists concluded, has the potential to significantly empower users in Web3 by enabling personalized experiences, intelligent agents, and more efficient DApps. They also acknowledged the need for greater individual control over user data in the AI field, as it could be potentially exploited by centralized entities.Â
Fireside Chat â Charting the Future: Binanceâs Product Roadmap
"Blockchain, combined with emerging technologies like AI, has the potential to significantly improve financial access and transform our daily lives. As an industry leader, Binance is uniquely positioned to unlock this potential and demonstrate its benefits to users. We aim to do that by continuing to build industry-first products that are easily understandable and accessible for both new and experienced users, making everyday applications of crypto and Web3 more seamless," â Jeff Li, VP of Product, Binance.Â
Jeff Li, Binanceâs newly appointed Vice President of Product, took center stage to share his vision for Binanceâs next chapter of innovation. With a wealth of experience spanning over 16 years in both Web2 and Web3, Jeffâs resume includes roles at major tech companies like TikTok, Instagram, Twitch, and Oracle. His track record of delivering dynamic solutions in fast-paced industries makes him an ideal fit for driving Binanceâs product development and enhancing its global crypto ecosystem.
During the chat, moderated by our own Jessica Walker, Jeff laid out Binanceâs ambitious product strategy. His primary focus is on expanding Binanceâs product suite to drive mass adoption of crypto and make Web3 more accessible for users worldwide.Â
He shared insights into how Binance plans to refine user interfaces, introduce AI-driven features, and collaborate on product upgrades to offer a seamless blend of cutting-edge innovation and everyday usability. The chat also covered Binance's exploration of emerging platforms like Telegram mini apps, which have garnered attention for their ease of integration and growing popularity among users.
Panel Discussion â Crypto Compliance: From the Streets to the Boardroom
âItâs not just the public and private-sector actors that protect the ecosystem; itâs the community itself. You see individual investigators at work, which is unique and made possible by bitcoinâs transparencyâ â Tom Robinson, Founder and Chief Scientist, Elliptic.Â
The panel discussion Crypto Compliance: From the Streets to the Boardroom offered an insightful look into the evolving regulatory landscape of the crypto industry. Moderated by Noah Perlman, Binanceâs Chief Compliance Officer, the session featured Irina Heaver (NeosLegal), Tom Robinson (Elliptic), Vytautas Fabiano Silva Zumas (Civil Police Chief of Goias State), and Bas Lemmen (Chainalysis).Â
The conversation began with a global overview of regulatory trends, emphasizing how jurisdictions differ in their approaches. Panelists agreed that international cooperation is critical for setting consistent standards, though achieving this can be complex due to varying legal frameworks. Proactive adaptation and regulatory alignment were highlighted as necessary strategies for navigating this dynamic environment.
Vytautas Fabiano Silva Zumas explored in depth the importance of public-private collaboration in safeguarding the crypto ecosystem. Drawing from his experience as a law enforcement officer, he stressed the vital role of compliance teams of private companies in supporting investigations and preventing criminal exploitation.Â
Fireside Chat â Driving Momentum: Yi He on Binanceâs Vision
âFormula for success: positive thinking, always doing your best, and wanting to create a better world. If you believe it, it will happen. Today we have seen concrete use cases of cryptocurrency. If you ask me when Web3 is coming, Iâd say this is it, the future has come, this is the moment now.â â Yi He, co-founder of Binance.Â
In this powerful fireside session moderated by Alice Liu from CoinMarketCap, Yi He, cofounder of Binance, talked about the evolution of our organization and the larger crypto industry, as well as what lies ahead for Binance.
Starting off with describing the strength of female leadership at Binance, Yi emphasized the need to bring more women to the table in the crypto world. She then reflected on the early days of Bitcoin, when few paid attention to crypto. âAnd now,â she noted, âweâre part of the traditional financial world.â
However, this transition has brought new challenges, as Binance navigates diverse regulatory landscapes across different countries. âSometimes, crypto natives ask if weâre still part of the community because we work so much with regulators,â Yi admitted. Yet, she maintained that collaboration with regulators is crucial to achieving mass adoption: âIf we want a billion users in crypto, we must cooperate with regulators. Thatâs how we become the next Google or Amazon of crypto.â
Yiâs vision extends beyond adoption numbers. She expressed a desire to make crypto as accessible as possible, with the hope that even her grandmother or a family nanny could easily open the Binance app and use crypto. With over 230 million users already on Binance, she sees the next milestone as building a platform grounded in real use cases, not merely a hub for âmeme coins to pump and dump.âÂ
Yi argued that innovation has indeed reshaped peopleâs lives for the better, adding that there are countries where nearly every family uses Binance â not just for trading, but for earning and sending money domestically and abroad. âThe future has come,â she declared, urging listeners to embrace the present moment as the dawn of Web3. For Yi, the question isnât when Web3 will arrive â itâs already here.Â
